Harold Bergsma and his wife Ruth E. Feierabend Bergsma and their children Mark, Rachel and Daniel lived in Nigeria from 1955-1967 where they served as educational missionaries for the Christian Reformed Board of Foreign Missions. See Publications above, 37,38,41

Hunting was a frequent recreational  activity in Nigeria. This Rufus Kob antelope was shot in Jato Akaa in Tivland in Nigeria, 1957.

Harold Bergsma worked at New Mexico State University from 1977-1996. This picture was taken on a family holiday outing to Anasazi ruins in northern New Mexico in1980.

In Baluchistan, Pakistan, 1984 when he served the On Farm Water Management Training Institute in Lahore, Pakistan, providing assistance in curriculum development and management training.

With wife Lily Chu Bergsma in Swaziland where they both worked for the Ministry of Education providing training in counseling , career guidance and management training for Headmasters.

The project in Namibia with US-AID was designed to provide administrative and technical training to primary school  teachers in the remote northern areas of Namibia along the border of Angola. Many schools were no more than a few seats under a tree, or seats on the sand with walls of sticks to protect them.
